Every time I tell my mom about our experiences here in Nebraska she always remarks at how I have stepped back in time or how I am living "Little House on the Prairie." Well I can't help but agree, in the most complementry way to the people I am surrounded by and have been meeting and enjoying these experiences with. Jay and I longed for our children to have and experience these same experiences that enriched our lives and wondered if the same experiences we had as a child still existed in a place on this mordern earth, and I think we may have found it. Last night we attended a "barn" dance in Burwell, Nebraska. As I told mom about where we were headed she remarked that same old remark about stepping back in time. My mission Companion got married to our Branch 1st Counselor and they had a dance in their honor. As soon as I stepped foot in that old Legend Hall I felt like a little girl again in Hamer, back when Stan Neville and Jerry Williams were our bishops and we had many ward get-togethers; old western dances, bizarres, and dinner which consisted of Buffalo on the menu, distant but very happy childhood memories.

Jayson and his very reluctant dance partner Tandy. This little girl is a feisty little cowgirl that could handle Jayson any day!

This is the Branch Primary President, Kathy, and Jayson just loves her!
This is Sandra and Russ, Russ is the 2nd Counselor in our Branch, and they are trying to teach kids line dancing.

These two pictures are of my little bug, since I didn't get any dance pictures of him I thought I would add these really cute pics of him taken a couple of days ago!

I LOVE the pic of Jayson dancing with his primary president. Too cute. I am so glad you have really taken to the area. Today we stayed at our wards "linger longer" for supper, and by the time we got to the food table, all the good food was gone. Jake was pretty bummed that the pasta salad was all that was left. On the way home he went on and on about how it was the "grossest" linger longer ever and that people should take 1 meatball not 6 or 7. I found his ranting quite ammusing. Anyway, I am glad your barn dance went better than our linger longer. Oh...I like the pink and gerbers better than the Raiders as well. Go BEARS! (oh, Broncos too I guess.
It looks like you are hiving fun out there! I hope we can come and visit you sometime. We had an eventful Sunday with Hallie. She is throwing tantrums now.....
Oh how I miss that part of the Midwest... simple, easy, life! No one is trying to out do their neighbor with fashion and things... so fantastic!
Also I was going to tell you that since your husband is a HUGE Raiders fan from gitgo... my cousin (well my dad's cousin) is Todd Christensen! He married my dads first cousin. I knew his son Toby Jay at BYU. Anyways, hopefully that makes me cool in his book. hehe
Also, what is this private blog business that I haven't been invited to?? uhhh??
I love that you are enjoying life so much! Great life... a great hub, 2 little boys, and a new city... ENJOY IT!
Wow, are you back in rural Idaho? It looks like you are having a great time. Jayson looks like a cute little cowboy and I can't believe Carson is getting so big! He is a beautiful baby!
Holly...remember this: life is not measured by the number breaths you take but rather the number of moments which take your breath away.
I hope that you continue to enjoy each and every one of these moments. Sounds like you are having a blast!
You may just end up with a friend from your days at WJ in your neighborhood if you keep telling how great it is in Nebraska. I am so happy that things are going to so well. So exciting to see the basement of your house in place too...I can't wait to hear more of your adventures in Nebraska!
