Confessions of the SLACKER Blog Mom!

Excuses are just that...excuses but I have a whole list of them! I am sorry I have been a slacker blogger. My comments have been few and so have been my posts. When time has been free I have looked at each of your blogs but I have been what my friend Kim referred to as the Lurker...the blog visitor that doesn't leave a comment. Hey, but I have been looking and trying to see what you have all been up to and your summer fun.

So here is what we have been up to, my list of excuses...

1. Our Garden!

We gathered enough peas to make Creamed Peas and Potatoes! Thanks to my dad we have had quite the garden! We are still getting peas and beans. Tomatoes are one and our corn is out of this world but hey we are in corn country! Hopefully my squash and pumpkins pull out of it and I could have quite the crops!

Yummy!!! The Gap Cowboy was so pleased with our hard work. Has been helping with all the weeding and picking. I didn't have to even ask for his help. I was quite pleased he was always pushing me out there to get to work and excited to help.

2. Swim Lessons

I made the Gap Cowboy take level 1 over again. I felt he wasn't ready for level 2 even though he passed last year. I just felt like he didn't get it last year and they were too nice to pass him. This year he really got in and tried hard and wanted to learn to swim. It is amazing what a year can do for him and his learning and listening level. He loved it and he loved his coaches!

3. Summerfest and the Rodeo

The Gap Cowboy watching the Rodeo.
Yes, he is in Gap jeans and a Gap surfer shirt with a brown handkerchief and cowboy boots...I am holding the hat.

The Summerfest book parade. The Gap Cowboy picked his favorite book character from the Toughest Cowboy and rode his 4-wheeler in the parade.

4. Harvest and preparations for harvest has hit...
This is a picture of the fire department doing a safety walk through with Jay and his crew. The kids wanted to see the fire trucks so I took them during their meeting. Wheat harvest is under way and they have been slammed with higher than predicted yields and high protein wheat! Very good for Hubby's elevator!! Bad for me, we don't see him very much! : (
So my excuse is this, we have been busy running everywhere. Busy in every aspect just when we think things will slow it heats up again. So I am sorry I haven't been ignoring any of you and love the comments you have left for me. I hope more of you "lurkers" leave comments. It is a joy to hear from you and I will try to do better....after our very large vacation, that is!

Barbecue Anyone??

***Little Disclaimer*** Hubby is an excellent Barbecuer....we just had a "little" mishap....

We had friends over for a barbecue last night and while we were all visiting our dinner decided to release too much greasy juices and we had a grease fire! As you can see we got the fire out and what was left was no longer appetizing. So my fast thinking husband saved the day with pizza. Thank heavens for the pizza guy! Funny thing though, we had planned a fire in the fire pit to roast marshmallows later that evening...should have just saved us the trouble and passed out the marshmallows and sticks and let it burn. ; )

We can look back and joke and laugh because no one got hurt and it didn't burn down our new house thankfully!

The "Grill Master" himself! Hamburger or hotdog anyone!
It just has a little white powder on it...that's all!

Hubby's buddy sampling the charbroiled hotdog...

I am not a Realtor but...

I am trying to help my little sister and her husband move closer to her work so she doesn't have to drive on such horrid roads. So I am spreading the word for her. If you know anyone moving to Rexburg that is in the market for a townhouse let us know....

Pam and Ryan are selling their townhouse so she can move closer to her work. This home is so cute for a first time home for a young couple or even college students or if someone is looking to downsize. Spread the word, you never know! This is a fabulous time to buy and first time home owners are getting major incentives!

P.S. This was a classic "I had just turned by back for a moment and..." I literally just turned to unscrew the hose from the faucet when I heard laughing and giggling coming from Mr. C! What a mess! But at that point what could you do?

We Are FAMILY!

Here are the pictures of our cabin fun! We all returned home with sunburns (except for Mr. C), happy memories and a little sleep deprived but we loved every minute of it! Thanks Mom and Dad AND Pam and Ryan for all your hard work! (Mom and Dad made it happen and Pam and Ryan planned it.)
Here is a little run down of our fun....
Friday...arrival into the Land of Milk and Honey
Saturday...departure/arrival to the cabin on Bill's Island
Sunday-Tuesday...family fun at the cabin, in the water, around the fire pit, hiking Mesa Falls, at the Grizzly Exhibit and Yellowstone Park.
Wednesday...back to the Land of Milk and Honey for 4th of July Party preparations AND the Grand Prize winning parade float award! (Pictures of the 4th to come and Hubby's fishing trip with his parents, brother and the Gap Cowboy).

One last thought, I don't know how many times I have been to West Yellowstone or the surrounding areas but it is so fun to take my boys there, to share with them the beauty I have enjoyed so many times. Every time I go there floods of happy memories of that place come back and I feel like a little kid again show my boys around to all the fun stuff this area has to offer. I am so blessed my parents took the time and I hope my boys feel that way one day too!
